Looking for a strong Head of Programme

Head of Programmes
This is a 2 year fixed term role based in Niamey, Niger with an attractive salary.
The post holder will report to the Director General
Staff reporting to this post: 9 project managers

As well as being West Africa’s largest nation, Niger is one of the poorest countries in the world. MCA Niger has been working in country since January 2018 –
delivering relief and support in everything from livelihoods, basic social services, irrigation, and road rehabilitation, to private sector and gender. Now, taking
a more holistic and multi-sector approach to our program, your leadership will have a significant and lasting effect on some of the most vulnerable people
in the world.

The role
In this brand new role working alongside our Director General and heading up our in-country program teams, you will have a real part to play in implementing
the compact in Niger building up resilience of the most vulnerable Sahelian communities and households in the country. Coordinating and delivering the full
spectrum of MCA multi-sector resilience programs, you will implement programs in line with the compact objectives of maximizing relief, resilience, and
longer term development resources. This means combining your technical and management experience with your strong judgment skills to make decisions
that will impact the entire performance of the country program. It also means playing an active role in high-level advocacy and lobbying, as well as managing
key relationships with our partners and stakeholders up to government level. In addition, as well as making sure that all programmes deliver impact on the
ground, you will monitor and evaluate program work to drive quality and incorporate learning where necessary.

What we are looking for
As a strong leader, you will have a proven ability to manage large teams in a challenging context while achieving strategic objectives. With experience in
development programme and complex humanitarian situations, you will successfully integrate the compact. Having managed high-level donor (including
American donors) contracts and relationships before, you will know how to work with others to turn strategy into action. You will be flexible and adaptable in a
high-profile environment and sensitive to cultural differences. You will also be familiar with the promotion of gender equity, and show an active commitment to
promoting the interests of marginalized people in all aspects of program work. Knowledge of the Sahelian context and fluency in French and English are essential.
