Executive Director Secretariat of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) (Songdo, South Korea)
The GCF is a multibillion-dollar fund, which was established by Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to enable developing countries achieve the objectives of the Convention and its Paris Agreement. The Fund is governed by its Board of 24 members, drawn equally from developed and developing countries, which oversees the overall operation of the Fund. The Secretariat of the Fund, with 250 internationally recruited professional staff, plays a pivotal and far-reaching role, including outreach in more than 100 developing countries, support to a broad readiness and preparedness programme, and building and managing a robust pipeline and portfolio of adaptation and mitigation funding proposals prepared by national and international accredited entities.
The GCF Board is seeking to appoint a highly experienced leader with demonstrated ability to both lead and manage a major international organization, with proven influencing and advocacy skills to build relationships with stakeholders in the public, government and private sector. He/she must have deep knowledge and experience of climate change, development, finance and their interrelationships.
The role will be remunerated at the level of a vice president of a multi-lateral bank or that of ASG in the UN system with a full benefits package.
