Formation des talents : la carte des bons et mauvais élèves africains

En 2019, l’Afrique reste le continent qui peine le plus à développer et retenir ses talents. Tour d'horizon du Global Talents Competitiveness Index, publié ce jeudi par l'Insead et Adecco.

Loin derrière la Suisse, Singapour et les États-Unis, les pays africains peinent à développer et retenir les profils locaux et à attirer des expatriés. Sans concession, les conclusions du dernier classement du Global Talents Competitivity Index (GTCI) publié par l’Insead en partenariat avec Adecco, sont les mêmes depuis six ans. Et selon ses auteurs, qui étudient chaque année la capacité des pays à former, retenir et attirer des talents, l’écart entre pays attractifs et non-attractifs se creuse d’année en année.

Maurice et le Bostwana au top 50

Sur 125 pays étudiés cette année, 28 sont africains. Maurice et le Botswana se placent dans la moitié haute du classement (respectivement 47ème et 62ème) tandis que leurs voisins sont relayés dans la seconde moitié et ont tendance à régresser. C’est particulièrement le cas du Sénégal qui perd cinq places en un an, malgré un taux de croissance de 6,8 % en 2017 et de multiples initiatives dans l’enseignement supérieur.

L’Égypte et le Rwanda progressent

À l’inverse, d’autres se distinguent par leur capacité à progresser. En un an l’Égypte fait un bond de huit places, passant de la 104ème à la 96ème et le Rwanda gagne trois places (73ème) grâce notamment à son potentiel de formation et sa capacité de rétention des talents. Selon l’étude, ce bon résultat est en partie dû a une bonne relation entre salariés et employeurs ainsi qu’à l’égalité des sexes dans la sphère professionnelle. Son score est néanmoins plus faible concernant sa capacité de production qui serait le résultat d’un manque de compétences de niveau intermédiaire et supérieur.

Nouveaux venus

Enfin, plusieurs pays ont fait leur entrée au classement cette année : la République démocratique du Congo s’immisce à l’avant dernière place, le Malawi est 115ème, le Liberia 114ème, le Cameroun 113ème et le Nigeria 99ème.
