Le financier camerounais Cyrille Nkontchou lance Enko Education à Abidjan

Après l’Afrique du Sud, le Mozambique et le Cameroun, la Côte d’Ivoire est la quatrième terre d’accueil du projet Enko Education focalisé sur le programme de baccalauréat international.

Le financier camerounais Cyrille Nkontchou, fondateur du fonds LiquidAfrica et promoteur de l’initiative Enko Education Investments, a lancé son projet éducatif à Abidjan.

À partir de septembre 2016, Enko Education lance deux programmes internationaux, le lycée Enko International intégré au Complexe scolaire méthodiste John Wesley, ouvert en seconde pour son démarrage, et le collège Enko Riviera (ouvert de la 6e à la 3e), qui ont vocation à préparer les élèves au baccalauréat international. Enko s’est également associé à un ensemble d’écoles locales, notamment Le Nid de Cocody et le groupe scolaire Papillons pour le primaire.

« Le baccalauréat international a trois programmes : l’éducation primaire, l’éducation intermédiaire pour les collèges et le programme de diplôme pour les lycées », détaille Eric Pignot, l’un des promoteurs du projet qui précise que les standards internationaux en matière de nombre d’élèves par classe et le nombre d’heures de cours par professeur seront respectés.

Le coût des formations dispensées par les établissements associés à Enko Education en Côte d’Ivoire n’a pas été dévoilé. Dans les établissements d’Enko au Cameroun, la scolarité annuelle est de l’ordre de 2 millions de F CFA (environ 3 000 euros).

Mais signe du caractère sensible de l’enseignement privé exclusif dans une région où l’accès à l’éducation de qualité est souvent réservé à une élite privilégiée, les promoteur de Enko Education assurent qu’un programme de bourses devrait être mis sur pied à destination de 10 % à 20% des élèves inscrits.

Levées de fonds

Enko Education entend permettre aux bacheliers diplômés de cette formation d’intégrer les grandes écoles et universités occidentales. À terme, l’objectif est de développer l’initiative Enko Education dans une vingtaine de pays, avec l’implantation d’une trentaine d’écoles, pour un investissement compris entre 30 et 40 millions de dollars.

« Nous préparons un tour de table pour boucler la première étape de notre stratégie. Deux bailleurs institutionnels devraient nous rejoindre. Pour le moment, c’est LiquidAfrica qui assure le financement du projet », a confié Cyrille Nkontchou à Jeune Afrique.
